Arts Access passholders are invited to meet our Arts Access Coordinator Cameryn at the Carnegie Art Center in North Tonawanda (240 Goundry Street) at 12:30pm on Saturday, April 23rd for a meet-and-mingle with fellow passholders followed by a talk by featured artist Salvatore Santospirito. Come view and learn about Santospirito’s work while meeting new friends and community members.
From the artist’s statement on the Carnegie Art Center website:
This has been a 25 year journey to introduce “Repurposed Artwork” in my little world. Although I’ve had classic training in drawing and painting, I was not excited about my work. In 1996, I joined a small community theater as a scenic artist. During this time period, I started creating time-period props out of found objects. In 2003, I started creating my version of Repurposed Artwork. After the death of a friend, I made a dedication art piece from his chair. From that time on, I found my medium of choice to communicate value out of unwanted objects. I transform the objects into unique creations by restoring the dignity of its original purpose.
I hope this show stirs up your triune being (Spirit, Soul and Body) with encouragement, inspiration and healing.”
