We were generously awarded $10,000 from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation (MAAF) through the CARES Arts Organization Relief Grants program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Small to mid-sized non-profit arts organizations in MAAF’s partner states, jurisdictions, and territories (DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, USVI, VA, and WV) were eligible to apply through a competitive process for one-time, non-matching grants of up to $20,000. Arts Services Inc. was the only organization selected to receive funding from the Buffalo and Western New York region.
MAAF received 1,022 applications requesting $10.7 million in support at the program deadline. Applications went through a rigorous review process that involved a diverse group of panelists to ensure an equitable distribution of funds. A total of 79 grants were awarded to organizations working in the performing, visual, and literary arts and 57 of the 79 CARES grantees are new to MAAF programs, including ASI.
We provide vital services to WNY’s arts and cultural community, including funding, training, advocacy, and professional assistance. With this funding, we can continue to fulfill its mission and support the arts industry in our region.
We are proud to represent the Western New York arts and cultural community through the support by the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation. We will use this financial support to continue working with artists and arts groups to help them through the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light.
A total of 33 arts organizations across New York State were also supported through this program to enhance the creative and artistic community in the state. A complete list of the grantees can be found here.
