The application for funding through the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) is now open. Individual artists of various disciplines may seek funding in the Individual Artist Category by requesting fiscal sponsorship through ASI. Please note that individual artists are only able to seek NYSCA funding if they have a fiscal sponsor.
Deadlines
Because ASI must submit all documents on behalf of individual artists, it is critical that you adhere to the following timeline to ensure a timely application submission.
- February 4 – March 4: Individual artists must reach out to ASI to check eligibility and prepare their applications. Please review the Individual Artist Category Program Guidelines here prior to contacting us.
- March 4: Fiscally Sponsored Artist Request Forms and supplemental materials are due to ASI
- March 11: Deadline for ASI to submit your application materials to NYSCA (to avoid any technical difficulties)
- March 12 (4 PM): Applications due to NYSCA
Individual Artist Categories
NYSCA offers funding to artists in the following categories:
- Composer Compositions (e.g., librettists)
- Film, Media and New Technology Production
- Theatre Artist Commissions (playwrights, directors, designers, choreographers, and more)
Resources
NYSCA offers a variety of resources to help guide you through the application process, including:
- Webinar
- Opportunity Sessions (Bronx, Troy, Rochester, Brooklyn)
In addition to NYSCA’s resources, ASI is here to help you through the process. As your fiscal sponsor, we are responsible for submitting your form and all supplemental materials through the portal on your behalf; however, you are responsible for completing the materials to describe your project and program. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the application or the submission process before final submission.
If you are interested in applying for NYSCA’s Individual Artist funding, contact ASI as soon as possible at (716) 833-3004 x512 or [email protected].
