Last week, Arts Services Inc. (ASI) had the pleasure of hosting another insightful webinar with Megan Woodward of Confluence Arts Solutions. During the previous session, we embarked on a journey to develop long-term communication strategies in “Mapping a Marketing Campaign (read more here). This time, we dove deeper into how to find inspiration and successfully create energized content. Here are five takeaways to help you plan your next content strategy effectively, without feeling overwhelmed.
- Open the Door to More Content Open up your process to your audience to show authenticity! There is no need to wait until everything is perfectly polished before releasing it. The key is to let the audience connect with your people, your organization and your process. Don’t forget that your ordinary could be their extraordinary!
- Start Brainstorming Sit down with your team to get started, share inspiration and content ideas. Remember that your audience drives your content. Brainstorm potential collaborators, interesting tidbits and use if/then statements to drive interest. For example, “if you liked Wicked, you’re gonna love this!”
- Pillars of Content Balance these four pillars of content; Entertainment, Education, Emotion and Sales. Remember that good content is not categorized exclusively as one pillar. For instance, an emotional content piece can also be educational. Just remember, sales should never exist on its own. We don’t want to overwhelm our audience!
- MFA not Required Just a friendly reminder that you don’t have to be a professional film director to do this! All you need is a phone with a decent camera and some basic applications. The more casual your content is, the more approachable it will be.
- More Tips & Tricks
- Delegating the work will help you gain new perspectives.
- Using the same content on many platforms will help get the most out of your work.
- Rely less on graphic design for social platforms – logistics can live on your website.
- Cut your title screen to capture your audiences’ attention faster.
- Add subtitles is a big “Do”.
- Staying engaged even though you don’t post regularly will help you with the algorithm.
- Don’t ever go completely dark!
