We are thrilled to announce that our Executive Director, Jen Swan-Kilpatrick, has been appointed as the co-chair of ArtsNYS, alongside Stephen Butler, Executive Director of CNY Arts. This exciting new role will enable Jen to further her advocacy efforts on a statewide level, strengthening the arts across New York.
ArtsNYS serves as a vital state-wide service organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the visibility of the arts as a key industry in our state. With a mission that includes providing technical assistance, professional opportunities for arts administrators, and advocating for increased funding, ArtsNYS is at the forefront of making a lasting impact in the areas of education, healthcare, community development, and civic life.
In her new role, Jen will continue to champion initiatives that align with her advocacy work at ASI, focusing on important issues such as:
- Increasing Funding for the Arts: Jen aims to elevate the conversation around the allocation of funds to the arts, ensuring that our community receives the resources it needs to thrive.
- Highlighting the Impact of the Arts: By advocating for the recognition of the arts’ significant contributions to education, health, and economic development, Jen hopes to enhance awareness of the essential role the arts play in our society.
- Building Visibility for Western New York Arts: One of Jen’s key priorities will be to spotlight the vibrant arts community in Western New York, showcasing the incredible talent and innovation present in our region.
As the New York State Chair for federal arts advocacy initiatives with Americans for the Arts, and the previous Vice President of ArtsNYS, Jen brings a wealth of experience and passion to this role. This past year, she represented the arts community in Albany during a sector-wide arts rally and engaged with state officials about the importance of increased funding from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
We encourage all Western New York arts organizations and artists to join ArtsNYS as members. By becoming part of this statewide network, you can access invaluable training, workshops, and conferences that will enhance your arts practice and advocacy efforts.
Please join us in congratulating Jen on this remarkable achievement! We are excited to see how she will continue to amplify the voice of the arts through this new appointment.
