We are thrilled to announce that our Executive Director, Jen Swan-Kilpatrick, has been appointed as the sole “captain” for New York State during National Arts Advocacy Zoom-In Week. This role comes in recognition of her dedicated advocacy as both the Executive Director at ASI as well as the Vice President of ArtsNYS.
In her capacity as captain, Jen will be spearheading efforts to connect representatives from arts and culture organizations and individuals across New York State with their congressional representatives. The goal? To champion the cause of the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and arts education.
Why Advocacy Matters
Now, more than ever, the arts need champions. Advocacy for the arts is not just about securing funding; it’s about recognizing the arts as a vital part of our education system, our culture, and our society. It’s about ensuring that future generations have the same opportunities to experience and participate in the arts.
Jen’s Role During “Zoom-In Week 2024”
As NYS captain, Jen will be coordinating with congressional representatives to organize Zoom meetings, creating a platform for meaningful dialogue and action. Her role is pivotal in ensuring that the voices of our community are heard at the national level.
