The success of unpaid internships rely on a number of assumptions. Assumptions like the individual has the financial stability to forgo paid work during that time; that they have the time flexibility to adapt to a new workplace’s schedule; that the organization has a staff member who has the capacity to provide individualized guidance; and, that the internship will be a stepping stone to a fulfilling career.
We’re ready to kick those assumptions to the curb. That’s why we’re excited to pilot ASI’s Springboard Fellowship.
Why the ASI Springboard Fellowship is different:
- Both the fellow and the partner arts organization will receive compensation for participation. Fellows will receive a $2,400 stipend for 120 hours of work ($20/hour) and the organization will receive $1,000 for staff time and resources.
- This fellowship is a true partnership between the fellow and the arts organization. We ask that arts organizations and interested individuals apply together and provide a workplan that benefits both partners.
