We are very excited to announce that local artist Tara Sasiadek has been selected to create a mural at 1702 Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls. This was an extremely competitive selection process that saw dozens of proposals from talented and experienced artists from across Western New York. Tara’s work was chosen by a panel of our region’s leaders in visual arts and public art initiatives.
Tara is an artist, philosopher, and entrepreneur who lives and works in Buffalo. Her current body of work is the series of paintings “The Bandaged Place,” a meditation on the healing complexities of scar tissue. She also creates collaborative and interactive installations with her spoken word artist Marquis Burton.
Tara has studied philosophy, painting, and human development throughout her career, and received her MFA in Visual Art from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is a founding member and past-president of the nonprofit Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo, and served as vice president of the Buffalo Society of Artists. Tara co-owns Snowy Owl Kombucha with her sister Anna Bystran. She also runs Artlab, an ongoing art critique group, with fellow artist Sean Madden.
Congratulations, Tara! Learn more about Tara and her artwork on Instagram: @tarasasart.
